BISMARCK, N.D. — November 4, 2025 — State Senator Sean Cleary today announced he will seek reelection to represent District 35 in the North Dakota State Senate. Cleary, a Republican and Bismarck native, was first elected to the Senate in 2022.

“I’m focused on building a North Dakota where families thrive, communities are safe, and everyone has the chance at a better life,” Cleary said. “I remain committed to serving our community with integrity, accountability, and the common-sense values that define North Dakotans.”

In the past two Legislative Sessions, Cleary has supported historic levels of property tax relief for North Dakota residents, helping people keep more money in their pockets and making homeownership more affordable.

“We’ve delivered property tax relief that helps North Dakotans and ensures our state can keep investing in priorities like education, public safety, and infrastructure,” Cleary said. “Safe communities, strong schools, and a low cost of living are the foundation for a better future for North Dakota families.”

Cleary successfully supported reforms to the state’s Legacy Fund that will strengthen the fund and boost future earnings. The Legacy Fund is a portion of the state’s oil and gas revenues that is invested so it can provide long-term benefit to North Dakotans.

Cleary has advocated for more support for family caregivers and dementia care, helping those caring for family members at home. Additionally, Cleary has pushed for greater transparency in campaign finance and for strengthening North Dakota’s laws about false political advertising.

Cleary serves on the Appropriations Committee, where he has consistently advocated for investments in priorities like education, healthcare, and public safety while working to keep taxes low.
