Sean Cleary

Sean was first elected to the North Dakota State Senate in November 2022. He represents District 35 in the heart of Bismarck.

 

Sean was born and raised in Bismarck, where he now lives with his Amy and their daughter, Audrey.

During his first legislative session, Sean focused on providing historic tax relief to the citizens of North Dakota and supporting investments in child care to support working families. As vice-chair of the Human Services committee, Sean focused on policies that would improve the affordability and accessibility of health care.

 

Sean has deep roots in North Dakota. After graduating from the University of Mary, Sean served on the staff of U.S. Senator John Hoeven. He earned a master’s degree in applied economics at UND before joining the staff of Governor Doug Burgum, where he focused on healthcare and financial services policy. As an advisor to the governor, Sean worked with the Legislature, cabinet officials, and other statewide elected leaders to advance policies to unlock North Dakota's potential. 

 

Currently, Sean works for the Medora Foundation, where he is dedicated to sharing the beauty of western North Dakota with visitors throughout the country. He serves on the board of North Dakota Assistive, a non-profit that provides assistive technology to North Dakotans who need it.
