Sean Cleary
Sean Cleary serves in the North Dakota State Senate, representing District 35 in the heart of Bismarck. His service builds on a deep connection to the community he now represents.

Family and faith shape his approach to public service and guide his priorities. A lifelong Bismarck resident, Sean is married to his wife, Amy, and they have two young children, Audrey and Samuel.
​
Sean believes government should work for everyday people and reflect their values. During his first term in the Senate, he supported historic tax relief and investments in child care to help working families. He has sponsored legislation to expand access to hunting opportunities, support family caregivers, and improve transparency and accountability in government.

Sean's career has focused on solving problems and building partnerships that serve North Dakotans. He is a graduate of the University of Mary and holds a master’s degree from the University of North Dakota. He has worked in both the public and nonprofit sectors, including roles with U.S. Senator John Hoeven, Governor Doug Burgum, and the Medora Foundation. He currently works for the University of Mary, where he helps advance the university’s mission and public outreach.

Sean is an active member of the Bismarck community. He serves on the board of the Missouri Valley Family YMCA and is involved in his local church.
