Sean has worked to lower costs for North Dakota families, protect taxpayers, and make state government more open and accountable. Here are some of the results he has helped deliver:​​​

Cutting Taxes

​

The Legislature passed a major property tax relief plan in 2025. We raised the primary home tax credit from $500 to $1,600 a year and provided more relief for seniors and disabled veterans.​ In 2023, we passed the largest income tax cut in state history. Most North Dakotans now pay little or no state income tax, letting families keep more of their paychecks.

Supporting Families and Lowering Costs​

​

To help lower health care costs, Sean led the effort to limit what people pay for insulin to $25 a month, so no family has to choose between filling a life-saving prescription and paying their other bills. He supported additional legislation that will help lower out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs.​

​

Sean sponsored legislation to support family members who care at home for loved ones with autism, disabilities, or serious medical needs. He has also worked to fund dementia care and ensure families can access the services they need. ​ ​​

​

Because of our natural resources and common-sense energy policy, North Dakotans have the lowest electricity costs in the country. Sean has pushed back against proposals that would raise the cost of energy in North Dakota.

Supporting Students

​​

Sean has been a strong supporter of education during his time in the Senate. North Dakota students continue to outperform the national average in key areas, a testament to our teachers, students, and schools.

By investing in education as a state, we prepare the next generation for success. This also helps reduce property tax burdens for local residents.

Protecting Your Tax Dollars

​

Sean has pushed to make the board that manages the state's Legacy Fund more transparent. He called for meeting videos to be saved and posted online so the public can see how big decisions get made, and supported a bill to require a website for all of the investments to be shared online.  

 

Sean led an effort to amend the state constitution so the Legacy Fund can grow by billions more in the coming decades, money that can deliver permanent tax relief.
